Ahmed Gulak Was Dropped To Pursue Political Ambition, Says London Source–Former special adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak was dropped so he can pursue his political ambition, it has been revealed in London.
It was gathered that the former adviser’s exit from Goodluck Jonathan’s government had nothing to do with political ill-feelings but rather was based on mutual agreement between the presidency and himself, as he has signaled his intention to contest for the Adamawa State Governorship in the next election.
President Goodluck Jonathan had on Tuesday terminated the appointment of the Special Adviser on political matters in a Press release issued by the presidency and signed by the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity Affairs, Dr Reuben Abati.
Alhaji Gulak according to sources is said to have hinted the presidency of his ambition to contest for the next Governorship race in Adamawa State and his determination to work more for the progress of the ruling party in the state.
His exit had left many questions agitating the mind of many because of his short stay in the government.
A press statement signed by Dr. Reuben Abati which communicated his exit said a replacement for Alhaji Gulak would be announced in due course.
The statement added that, “President Jonathan thanked Alhaji Gulak for his services to the present Administration and wishes him success in his future endeavours”.
However, it emerged in London on Tuesday that the Political adviser was changing his political platform as he is dusting a new political shoe, getting ready for the next Governorship election in Adamawa state.
Gulak, a lawyer by profession was in London and United States early in the year to launch Goodluck Support Group(GSG), a political campaign group being launched across the World to motivate Nigerians in the Diaspora to campaign for the president’s re-election in 2015 election.
In a brief telephone interview monitored in London,Chief Austin Ajaero, the UK Coordinator of Goodluck Support Group(GSG) claimed that Alhaji Gulak left the government to prepare for his gubernatorial ambition in Adamawa state, come next year’s election.
As he put it: “Dr. Ahmed Gulak was not sacked as being peddled by some section of the media. GSG UK is still waiting for further clarification from Abuja this week.”
He said the former adviser was gearing up for a new challenge as he has vowed to win the next gubernatorial election in Adamawa State.
Shedding more light, Chief Ajaero further explained: “It is better for him to start the mobilisation and political strategy earlier as we approach the general election in 2015. For a long time, some of us that are very close to Alhaji Gulak knew about his political dream of contesting for governorship election in Adamawa state. There are no political differences between Mr.President and Alhaji Ahmed Gulak whatsoever.”
