Appeal Court Stops Bukola Saraki’s CCT Hunt As Money And Power Chokes Nation’s Rule Of Law-The Nigeria Court of Appeal has further halted the hunt for the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Olubukola Saraki.
Sitting in Abuja on Monday morning, the Appeal Court has issued an injunction stopping any further hunt for the troubled Senate Leader who is wanted for false declaration of assets.
A similar action by the a High Court sitting in Abuja had stopped Saraki’s appearance before the nation’s Justice Danladi Umar Code of Conduct Tribunal after he was summoned to answer charges. The high Court stepped forward further to summon the head of the Tribunal and others playing a part in the official responsibility of carrying out corruption investigation through false asset declaration against the Senate Leader.
The proposed arrest of the Dr Saraki, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal was heightened last Friday when the Inspector General of Police was instructed to produce the Kwara State most powerful politician and the son of a north-aligned second republic political Juggernaut, Senator Olusola Saraki, both carrying along the majority support of home state Kwara and some other Northern Nigeria’s influence.
The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, had directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to effect the arrest of Saraki and produce him before the Tribunal today, Monday September 21, 2015.
It also emerged on Sunday that the police claimed it had not received official and documented communication message from the Tribunal for Saraki’s hunt and arrest.
The current scenario has put the government of last opposition APC’s credibility online and determining the direction the party would take Nigeria in the next four years with money and power influence flexing muscles against the nation’s rule of Law and the future of the country
