BOKO HARAM: Officials Earmark 1$Million For Spiritual Intervention-A sum of One million Dollars officials have been allocated to prayer warriors in Nigeria’s violence-wracked northeastern of Adamawa State in order to solicit for spiritual intervention to put an end to the violence.
The authority is taking a new step of of engaging spiritualists to fight-off the terrorism menace engaging “prayer warriors” to to do the fighting and divinely securing God’s intercession in the battle against the menace of the notorious Boko Haram militant group.
According to Abdurahman Jimeta, a government official in Yola, state provincial Capital of Adamawa during a briefing of the medai: “We’re seeking divine intervention,”
“We have earmarked 200 million naira [roughly $1 million] for prayers [to be conducted] to seek Allah’s help in tackling the Boko Haram menace and other insecurity challenges threatening the stability of the state,” Jimeta said.
The official also that the government was doing “everything possible” to tacle the menace and put an end to the threat posed by the Boko Haram militant group, claiming the group had “held the country to ransom, especially in Adamawa and other northeastern states”.
According to him, along with hiring so-called “prayer warriors”, some of the funding allocations would also go to local vigilante groups and other official security networks.
Although much of Nigeria’s population of almost 175 million is known for its deep religiosity, the West African country – which is more or less evenly divided between Muslims and Christians – is also notorious for widespread government corruption and the wanton violence associated with Boko Haram engaged in the state.
