The Police commissioner said the Anti-Bomb Squad officer, Sergeant Sunday Badang, was killed as he was about to detonate the second bomb . He said two other office received shrapnel injuries from the explosion and were treated at the 44 Army Reference Hospital. The officers said to be in stable condition.
It was also rumoured that one of the two injured officers was the Special Adviser on Security, and Coordinator of Kaduna State Government security outfit Operation Yaki,.
The officer was said to have been hit hard t around his shoulders and face. He was later taken to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) in Zaria.
Mr. Magaji Nassarawa, said his command has beefed up security throughout the state, and called on the public for credible information to enable him apprehend the criminals responsible for various bombings across the state.
Mr. Nassarawa assured state residents of continued security of safety in the face of the current bomb onslaught.
“Equally, we have beefed up security in the entire state and the members of the public are hereby advised to report any suspicious object to security agencies and to avail us with credible information that will nip in the bud, these criminals,” he said.
