Buhari Makes U-Turn On Decision To Be Oil Minister -President Muhammadu Buhari has taken a u-turn in his earlier decision to head Nigeria’s Petroleum Ministry.
The post now will run without a Minister and the President may appoint a junior Minister of State to act by the side while he supervises the activities of the oil Ministry.
According to a report in the International Finance Newspaper, Bloomberg,
The post would now be left vacant.
Buhari;s media adviser Femi Adesina indicated that it would be morally shallow and unthinkable to keep to such policy decision as it would be too much for the president.
“He can’t be president and oil minister at the same time,” Femi said during telephone conversation with Bloomberg.
Speaking on Monday from Abuja , Mr Adesina said: “He will supervise the ministry, so there will be no petroleum minister. Maybe he will appoint a minister of state, which is a junior minister.”
Buhari spokesman statement to Bloomberg indicted the level of mediocrity with which important decisions are being made and lack of well co-ordinated plans in decision making by this dispensation.
