Cynthia Udoka Osokogu: Finally laid to rest in family hometown


Murdered post-graduate student at Nassarrawa University,  Cynthia Udoka Osokogu was finally laid to rest on Friday in her father’s compound at Boji Boji Owa, Agbor, in Delta state.

The sober final laid to rest  ceremony was attended by only family members and a handful of friends who gathered to pay their last respect.

A brief prayer was said by a catholic priest who later led the crowd to the graveside where she was finally laid to rest.

Cynthia Udoku Osokogu, a 24 year old young lady was murdered in a hotel in Lagos by some young men she met through the social media.

The burial was scheduled to hold about two weeks ago but was postponed for police further investigation on circumstances surrounding her death.

Lying in state in a white and gold plated casket, the ceremony started at about 3:15PM

Rev Father Leonard Biachi leaving a crowd of sympathisers had led a short prayer for the deceased on behalf  of the family and later  led a procession to the graveside where she was finally interred.

Members of her family were filled with grief as they watched a team of  young men lowering  the casket deep the grave.

The mother of the deceased was not at the ceremony, her elder sister was on scene leading all activities and attending to the sympathisers handling all that required needs and  putting things in places.

At the end of the short ceremony, the father of the deceased thanked the press for their effort all through this period and believes the judiciary would do the needful in allowing justice to take its cause.

The immediate elder brother of the deceased also expressed hope t that his sister’s murderers’ would be brought to justice  while her friend from Egypt took solace in the spiritual console that she would meet Cynthia up someday in heaven.
