Farida Waziri is to be relieved of her position as head of anti-graft Agency.

The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri, could be on her way out as the head of Nigeria’s anti- graft Agency, Pm news has reported.

The lack lustre leader of the head of an organisation established to exorcise corruption from the nation’s fabric could be relieved as early as next week according to sources hinting Nigeria’s frontline evening newspaper Pm news.

P.M.NEWS authoritatively gathered that a presidential directive to remove her from her position has been communicated to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke.
The government action may not be unconnected with her lack of action as the anti graft agency has demonstrated absolute lack of teeth and only existing as a weak link in fight against corruption in Nigeria.

it was gathered that pressures had mounted from foreign governments who accused Waziri of ineffectiveness and lack of action in her fight against corruption in the country.

The foreign interests, P.M.NEWS gathered, recently forwarded a damaging dossier on the organisation and its officials to President Goodluck Jonathan.

The foreign interest, P.M.NEWS gathered further, threatened not to cooperate with the Commission and withhold financial support for it if the Presidency refused to remove Waziri as the EFCC boss.

On receiving the letter, President Jonathan reportedly forwarded it to the AGF and directed him to act within one week.

Investigations revealed that pressures were mounted on President Jonathan by the foreign governments on the report or they will withhold their support for the fight against corruption in the country.

Many EFCC officials themselves may have embarked on corrupt practices as it was established that glimpses from the dossier sent to President Jonathan contained how an EFCC official bought 250,000 Pounds apartment in London and paid with hard currenc without sweats.

Presidency officials in Aso Rock Abuja, confirmed that two crack detectives are currently being considered to take over from Waziri.

Those being considered are Mr. Tunde Ogunshakin and Ibrahim Lamorde. Both are former heads of operations of the Commission.

The two officials, PMNEWS gathered, are currently being screened by security officials to determine the one best suited for the job.

EFCC had established itself as a credible force to fight off corruption in Nigeria as it’s activities were acknowledged during the time it was headed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. Credibility, consistence and hope was the then the anti grafts synonyms until Ribadu was removed. His removal had been politically motivated with some powerful hands in President Umaru Yar’Adua forming anti Ribadu clique to sabotage the nation from a major positive goal aimed at forcing the nation toe a clean line of anti corruption.

Except for the conviction of Former PDP leader Chief Bode George which actually had been formalised by Nuhu Ribadu ‘s regime, Waziri was never  known to bring any corrupt government functionary to books as there has never been real convictions of any public money embezzlers during her tenure.
