Asa Yolanda Brown, thrill in London IndigO2 Concert
The Nigerian singer and songwriter, ASA will feature in a major concert supported by ace saxophonist, Yolanda Brown at the IndigO2 on June 5, 2011.
The French born Nigerian soulful pop fusion music star is a hot sensation and her music embraces world class music, fusing reggae, Afromusic and funk.
Asa is a fantastic Paris-born vocal and songwriting talent who has been nicknamed “21st century Bob Marley” due to her proficiency in modern reggae rendition.
She is renowned for fusing her Nigerian roots with contemporary pop, reggae, funk and soul, delivering songs in both English and Yoruba language.
Her debut album received lots of support from the likes of Lenny Kravitz and Angelique Kidjo, both of whom subsequently invited her to duet with them . ‘Beautiful Imperfection‘, Asa’s second studio album, was a recent Jazz FM Album of the Week. It’s a collection of irresistible retro grooves featuring the classic singles ‘Be My Man‘ and ‘Why Can’t We‘.
And top MOBO-winning urban/contemporary saxophonist and composer YolanDa Brown will be opening the show.
YolanDa is one of the UK’s most exciting and in-demand live performers. Her distinctive sound takes jazz and introduces it to a diversity of genres from soul, R&B and gospel to reggae and Latin. She has performed with the likes of Alexander O’Neal, Mica Paris, Omar and Soweto Kinch.
