The full manifest of victims of Thursday morning’s Air crash has been released, damping speculations that Gbenga Obasanjo was part of the entourage in the ill-fated plane as it took off to Akure, Ondo State Capital.
The released manifest has bought hope to many families whose loved ones survived the crash and despair to others who may have lost loved ones.
After a running verbal battle between the Nigeria Media and authorities of the Nigeria Aviation management, a list of those who were Victims of the aircraft was released .
As the manifest was released late on Thursday night, of note was the absence of the name of Gbenga Obasanjo, who had been speculated as having been in the plane.
As authorities came out with details of those occupying the plane, Gbenga Obasanjo’s name was conspicuously missing, meaning that those who sighted him at the Airport as the plane was taking off may not have known that he did not board the plane.
It was also discovered that late Dr. Agagu’s son in law, Mr. Femi Adesanya survived the crash but he is still in hospital. Femi got married to Agagu’s daughter, Mowunmi. Among the survivors also were Akintunde Taiwo and Akintunde Akeem, who were said to be extended family members.
The duo of Mr Tunji Okusanja Jr and his father, Tunji Okusanja, the Chief executive of MIC Funeral were also in the plane. It has been circulated that while the father survived the crash, Tunji junior was unlucky.
The survivors have all been transported to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH.
Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, in a statement confirmed the number of victims, claiming there were 20 passengers and 7 crew members onboard the aircraft, which took off from the Domestic Wing of the Murtala International Airport at about 9.30am Thurday morning.
The Embraer aircraft with tag no SCD 361 was operated by Associated Airlines Limited.
The ministry, through its spokesperson, Joe Obi, had, in a statement, said, “The plane had 20 passengers and seven crew members on board.”
