Governor Aregbesola storms London, ready to receive Youth Empowerment award.

Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has arrived London where he had been invited to finalize a social pact between London’s Southwark Council and Osun state.

The governor also while in London will receive a youth motivation award to be presented by youth Charity organisations in London

Osun state early in the year in Osogbo hosted the world conference of Mayors and Governor Aregbesola was the chief host of the five day conference which saw the gathering of international world in Oshogbo, Osun State capital.

The current visit to the United Kingdom had been initiated by Nigerian born London mayor, His Worshipful, Mayor of Southwark, Counsellor Tayo Situ.

While in London, Governor Aregbesola will sign the seal of a major agreement of friendship between Osun State and London Borough of Southwark.

Among other social benefits, the signing of the seal is to bring into official formality of social interactions, cooperation,  friendship and cultural exchange programme between London Borough of Southwark and Osun state of Nigeria.

Sources said the governor arrived London on Friday morning and on arrival made his way to observe Jumat  at the Muslim association of Nigeria’s mosque on Old Kent Road where he prayed in observation of the Friday Jumat service.

After the Jumat  prayer, Ogbeni Aregbesola addressed a cross section of  Nigerians in Diaspora.

Southwark Council

On Saturday morning, the governor was a special guest of  British Museum in London with his  seven- man entourage, in pursuant of programme laid out for the visit.

Meanwhile, the governor will proceed on his programme on Saturday evening to meet Nigerians in the Diaspora officially  at about 4 PM.

The venue of the meeting will be Southwark town hall where he will  receive an award on  youth empowerment and further  address a big crowd of Nigerians in Diaspora.

After taking a two-day rest on Sunday and Monday, Ogbeni Aregbesola on Tuesday May 3  will perform the signing of

of Memorandum of Partnership between Osun State and London Southwark Council.

The occasion will be held at the  Civic Suite, Third Floor North, Tooley Street London SE1 2TZ Council Offices 160 Tooley Street London SE1 2TZ

The Governor also will  addresses top British politicians and Southwark council staff at the same venue.

I was privileged to be at the Southwark Town hall where I listened to Governor Rauf Aregbesola as he presented his speech detailing his commitment to the many facets of development to Osun state. I must confess that the governor belongs to a new breed of leaders who are ready to move Nigeria forward from the previous moribund approach to a more sophisticated and modern approach to development issues. The friendhip pact with the Southwark council is a step in the right direction
