Professor Kamene Okonjo, the mother of Nigeria’s Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister for the Economy who was released on Friday by her captors after five days of mental incarceration has been settling down with her husband, the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku, Chukwuka Okonjo.
The 82-year-old Queen Mother has been relishing her new freedom uniting with members of the Okonjo family.
She arrived home to the hands of the traditional ruler at the Obi’s Palace in Ogwashi-Ukwu.
Since the news of the abduction, the vicinity of the Ogwashi-Uku palace has been awashed with tight security while many milled around the palace holding petty gossips about the incident which held the Okonjo family spellbound last week. Visitors have been denied entry into the palace since.
Asoucr said: “Queen Mother has been settling down nicely since her release and have been coping with members of the family chatting her to allow her put it all behind her”.
It has been difficult to establish if she will be allowed to tell her stories, due to the nature of the incarceration of the 82 years old
The retired 82 year old professor of sociology and Queen mother of the Delta state town of Ogwashi Ukwu, was kidnapped on Sunday December 10 by 10 armed men in her husband’s palace when she came out to serve drinks to workers.
Delta State government claimed her release was security negotiation based and no ransom was paid.
With police claiming that the much loved Queen Mother was about to be rescued when she was released, the question has been that if the police had a clue of where Mama Kamene was being incarcerated, why did the police retreat from pouncing on the abductors and arresting them to convince the public of the claim?
