SONY DSCBreaking News: Central Bank Of Nigeria Lagos Building On Fire-The Central Bank of Nigeria office in Lagos is on fire as men of the Lagos State  Fire Service continue to put the fire under control to avoid its spread to other adjourning offices.

The office located in front of Tinubu Square in Lagos, Lagos State served Nigeria as the main Headquarters before the Federal government transferred the headquarters to Abuja, the new Federal Capital Territory.

CBN 1Passers-bye noticed a oozing smoke as it emitted from the rooftops of the high rise section of the Bank at about 5.40pm, just as the workers were winding up activities for the day.

Lagos Fire Service and other emergency services arrived at the building soon afterwards as the area was condoned off as fire officials arrived the scene.

CBN LagosThe over 50 year old building is located at the Tinubu area of Lagos Island. It is situated opposite the Stock Exchange office on Custom Street, off Marina and kissing the end of Balogun street in Lagos.

The building used to serve as the bank’s headquarters before the Federal Capital Territory was moved to Abuja.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
