Customers to the restaurant in Onisha, Anambra state had suspicions about the food being served and discovered contents were meeats to be truly of humans parts.
Police raided the restaurant after hearing rumors about human meat being served. They found fresh human heads that were still being drained of blood in a plastic bag.
At least, 11 people including the proprietor were seized after they discovered 2 fresh human heads in the hotel (name withheld) very close to the popular Ose-Okwodu market in Anambra state. Two AK47 rifles & other weapons were also discovered in the hotel.
The arrest followed tip-offs from area residents on Thursday morning.
The hotel owner, 6 women and 4 men were arrested.
After police got access to the hotel, they made a startling discovery of two human heads wrapped in a cellophane bag, two AK47 rifles, two army caps, 40 rounds of live ammunition and so many cell phones.
Police also found automatic weapons, grenades and piles of cell phones. The hotel owner and ten other people were arrested in connection to the slew of crimes, according to BBC.
Police reportedly found heads wrapped in cellophane with blood still draining out, as well as AK-47 guns and lots of rounds of live ammunition.
A man who spoke to reporters admitted that he was surprised at how expensive his meal had been at the restaurant. He said he paid 700 Naira, or $3.50, for his meal when most Nigerians subsist on less than $1 per day.
He said, “The attendant noticed my reaction and told me it was the small piece of meat I had eaten that made the bill scale that high. I did not know I had been served with human meat, and that it was that expensive.”
There is no word yet on what the legal consequences of this will ultimately be.
“Every time I went to the market, I observed strange activities going on in the hotel. People who were never cleanly dressed and who looked a bit strange made their way in and out of the hotel, making me very suspicious of their activities. I am not surprised at the shocking revelation.”
