National leader of Nigeria’s main opposition party Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has debunked rumours that he has been down struck by stroke.
The politician claimed that the speculation was only an attempt to talk him down by his detractors.
He was reacting to an earlier report by EMNnews that he has been treated in a London Hospital after he was rushed from Nigeria.
In a telephone interview with Channels Television, the former Lagos State governor said he is hale and hearty and in good health.
Speaking from his London location, Tinubu chalked the rumours up to political ploys from his opponents.
EMNnews had expressed concern over the political heavyweights health after he recovered from an ailment last August which took him to Dubai, United Arab Emirate for treatment. Last August, the top Action Congress leader was struck by the strange ailment allegedly complicated by the pressures of Ramadan fasting. He recovered quickly and returned back to the country.
Also denying the news, the Action Congress of Nigeria joined their voices in debunking rumours that the ACN front man had been flown to England on 8 February for immediate treatment after suffering a partial stroke.
However, EMNnews learnt that Asiwaju has been in London for almost one month and has attended Hospital for normal routine health checks.
The Publicity Secretary of ACN, Lagos State chapter, Mr Joe Igbowke described the news of Tinubu’s ill-health as figment of imagination of those that originated and peddle it.
He said; “as I’ m talking to you now, Asiwaju, is hale and hearty, there is no cause for alarm whatsoever. I wish to therefore, assure you that our able and agile leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will live long to fulfil all his wishes and dreams before the very eyes of all”.
Igbowkwe urged Nigerians to disregard the news, claiming it was perpetrated by Tinubu’s detractors who were apparently uncomfortable with his rising profile and see him as a big threat to their ambitions.
An associate of Tinubu told reporters, “I can confirm that the Blackberry messages and online postings alleging that he is paralyzed and was flown out of the country some days ago are false and sponsored by detractors who wants him out of circulation.”
