Ibori: Hearing in corruption now pushed to February 13, 2012

James Ibori aghast as case is pushed to February

Hearing in the  corruption and money laundering cases preferred against the former governor of Delta State,  Chief James Onanafe Ibori has been fixed for February 13 2012.

A judge at the Southwark Crown Court in the UK has scheduled the high profile trial  for hearing pushing the date to February, 2012 when the case came up.

The  Crown Court however on Thursday  ruled against an application by Mr. Ibori’s attorneys to dismiss the case against Ibori, putting paid to speculations that the case may collapse.   Thursday’s ruling also saw  the judge refusing Ibori’s defense arguments challenging the legal basis of his trial in London.

The court then set February 13, 2012 as the date for resumption of the trial.

Both Mr. Ibori and co-defendant, Ellias Prekos have pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of fraud and money laundering.
