Ijesas enjoined to work in unity and harmony in annual dance day

Ijesa State in motion

It was a day of colours and glitz as Ijesas in Europe gathered together in celebration to mark the Ijesa Day annual Dance.

The day was a concentration of who is who last summer as many  Ijesa indigenes in the United Kindom came  together in a major life and unity celebration.

The occasion  was loaded with many side attractions, fun, cultural dances and networking activities, as many old friends were reconnected.

The community was actually one of the most numbered in Europe and to demonstrate solidarity for those illustrious sons of Ijesaland, Owa Obokun Adimula, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran sent emissaries while representatives were sent by the then Oshun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

Many indigenes   in full of excitement  met  to reflect  about the past and consolidated their re-union.

The community reflected on  many years of unity, achievement and progress in a foreign land and determine to cement more the bond of unity.

It was a sort of  life stocktaking, once again counting their blessings and offering thanks to God for a life of full of hard work and life commitment to home cause.

It was a night full of colours and class as many are decked in native attire designs with rains of  styles and brands.

The proud subjects of Owa Obokun Adimula, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran  demonstrated once again to the entire world the important place   Ijesa’s take in the leadership of  Yoruba  social and cultural values.

“Both young and old came together in a unique life celebration and cultural exhibition so that we can once again demonstrate to the world that no matter how long you are away from home, your culture and uniqueness as a people come to fore and  takes precedence over everything else” claims Sunday Adewusi, one of the organisers of the event.

However, the occasion witnessed demonstrations about the currently agitated Ijesa State, with many slide shows of historical Ijesa background. Ijesa Cultural Group was at the occasion to display one of those qualities that make Ijesa people  a major force of culture embodiment with  dazzling Ijesa folk songs to excite the audience.

Ace Juju music wizard, Diya Ojo was there to add colours to the occasion with lots of good music.
