National Security Adviser, Retired General Patrick Owoeye Azazi and the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Bello Haliru have been dismissed.
Their dismissal was announced on Friday by the President’s spokesman, Dr Reuben Abati.
Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, a one-time ADC of former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babanginda has been chosen to replace the ecurity adviser.
The Special Adviser to the president on Media and publicity, Dr Reuben Abati wrote on the media network, Twitter, posting that the “NSA Azazi had been dropped and replaced.
This shocker announcement was made shortly after the President summoned an emergency security council meeting summoned after he arrived his world conference in Brazil.
The two sacked security chiefs were in the security council meeting, earlier in the day with the president.
Dasuki’s name is to be forwarded to the House of Assembly for confirmation together with the new name for the Defense Minister.
