Kogi Ex-Governor, Abubakar Audu Goes Home Amid Floods Of Tears-All Progressives Congress (APC) 2015 gubernatorial election candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu who died on Sunday morning has been laid to rest in his home town, of Ogbonicha in Ofu Local Government Area.
The former Kogi State Governor died just as the results of the election which was held on Saturday were being awaited. As the news of his burial was being confirmed on Monday afternoon after his interment at 2pm, all hopes that he might resurrect after all was dashed as Kogi state went on mourning after mourning. The social media had been awashed with his possible revival from death.
Full force interdenominational prayers were offered for him and shouts of God’s intercession roared through the state as sympathisers and his faithful followers refuse to cometo terms that he had departed.
Hope of his revival was nursed, such that his burial which was scheduled to be held on Monday morning was postponed. It was also rumoured early on Monday that a prophet who came in from Lagos to pray for him had revived him.
Amid watching seas of sympathisers gathering at the venue, the usual Islamic doctrine of prayer offer was observed as thousand who gantered to pay their last respect sobbed endlessly for the departed former executive governor.
Kogi State government had earlier declared a seven-day mourning period in his honour with a high powered delegation of the Kogi state government led by his election rival, Governor Idris Wada, Deputy Governor Abayomi Awoniyi, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor. Adegbemiro Jegede, many state commissioners and other top government functionaries.
Top APC members including the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was expected to lead a delegation of APC leaders to the burial but it was not confirmed by our correspondence if he was able to make it.

Following his untimely death on Sunday morning, so many speculations had been held about the cause of his death while family members have been quoted as saying that the former governor was poisoned.
Following his burial, it has been rumoured that the dynamics of Kogi state politics may change as the current situation has made expectations unpredictable.
“It has been a tensed period Ogbonicha, Audu’s home was besieged with thousands of sympathisers and registering their disbelief over his death.
His interment had been scheduled to hold 10am on Monday with friends and relatives having gathered early on Monday morning.
However, his delayed interment had engendered some ripples which made tha gathered mourners more agitated and demanding for the body to be brought out from his laid spot.
According to Premium Times report, security personnel were dispatched to blocke the main entrance to the late politician’s home so that the sympathisers would not gain entrance advantage.
However, many still forced their way into the compound with some relatives heading to the room where the corpse was laying.
However, there was drama at a point when a cleric was allowed access promising to revive the late politician.
According to reports, the prophet sought to pray for Audu’s corpse, promising to bring him back to life.
According to reports: ”The prayer man was successfully brought on the support of the crowd, with all outside the premises joining in the intercession prayer. Loud voices shouting Holy Ghost fire and Allahu Akbar were renting the air.
Ironically, as men and women of faith engaged in their faith and fervent prayers to bring Audu back to life, his grave was being made ready at the other end of the compound.
Alas! Audu’s body was interred at exactly 2pm with many being left with thoughts of how he had died. His departure has left a bitter memory of who did it while Kogis’ immediate political future remains uncertain.
