Lee Rigby’s Killers, Adebolajo and Adebowale Change Nigerian Names In Court-Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale have both appeared in London’s Old Bailey officially charged with murder for killing British soldier, Lee Rigby.
Michael Adebolajo, 28 from Romford, and Michael Adebowale, 22, from Greenwich, are both accused of accused of killing Fusilier Rigby as he returned to Woolwich Barracks on May 22, this year after an official assignment.
They both sought to be identified in their British Muslim names.
Michael Adebolajo asked to be known by the Islamic name Mujahid Abu Hamza while Michael Adebowale asked to be known by the name Ismail Ibn Abdullah
The father of one died from multiple cut and stab wounds when he was attacked in Artillery Place in Woolwich area.
Members of the deceased family wept in court as the case came for mention at the weekend at the Old Bailey .
During a 45-minute hearing that was attended by all families of both the assailant and the victim, Lee Rigby’s estranged wife Rebecca, 30, the mother of his two year old son Jack, wept as she was intermittently wiping away tears, watching proceedings from the side of the court.
Both accused were also charged for conspiracy to murder a police officer.
The accused both denied the separate charges. The offenses were said to have been committed on the same day. The two Michaels appeared at the Old Bailey via a video link from high security Belmarsh Prison.
Adebolajo asked to be known by the Islamic name Mujahid Abu Hamza and Adebowale asked to be known by the name Ismail Ibn Abdullah. Both wearing red T-shirts and pale trousers, Adebowale and Adebolajo appeared from separate rooms for the hearing. Adebowale sat in front of an HMP Belmarsh sign.
Hearing in the case will commence in November.
