The Android touchscreen also offers a super-fast 4G connection, at least in territories that offer 4G networks such as the U.S.
Spec-wise, it’s not enormously ahead of the pack: it has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, which puts it ahead of iPhone 4S, just.
The 4.3-inch AMOLED screen is around the same size as Samsung’s latest handsets – and is, in all probability, made by Samsung. It also offers an eight megapixel camera which shoots in Full HD.
Motorola’s RAZR handset was a huge hit that sold 130 million units in four years – and even inspired a gold-plated spin-off version in collaboration with Dolce and Gabbana
Whether it is legally the ‘world’s thinnest’ remains to be seen – courts often make different measurements than manufacturers, as Samsung found to its cost with Galaxy S 2, which a court ruled was thicker than iPhone, due to the lumpy ‘heel’ on the handset.
Even if it is, it may not remain the ‘world’s thinnest’ for very long.
The phone was unveiled in New York City this week, and will go on sale in the U.S. for $299 with a Verizon contract.
Prices and release dates for other territories were not confirmed.
