Nigeria elects new SGF as Anyim steps in to replace Yayale

    A  former Senate Leader and and lawyer has emerged the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). President Goodluck Jonathan has named Anyim Pius Anyim as the new  Secretary succeeding  Alhaji Ahmed  Yayale Ahmed.Ahmed Yayale Ahmed  

     

     


    A  former Senate Leader and and lawyer has emerged the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). President Goodluck Jonathan has named Anyim Pius Anyim as the new  Secretary succeeding  Alhaji Ahmed  Yayale Ahmed.Ahmed Yayale Ahmed.

    Mr. Anyim, a lawyer, who was born on February 19, 1961, will be sworn-in today, May 31 at the Executive Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja at 12 noon.

    He was elected to the Senate in 1999 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Ebonyi South senatorial district, Ebonyi State and became Senate President in August 2000.

    The President has also re-appointed Andrew Owoeye Azazi as the National Security Adviser (NSA). Mr. Azazi, a retired General and former Chief of Defence Staff was first appointed the NSA in October last year.

    Further, the President has dissolved the Federal Executive Council while his aides and other political appointees have also been relieved of their duties.

    A statement from the president’s media office signed by Musa Aduwak, Director of Information, Office of the Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity) said, “In accordance with the appointment letters of members of the Federal Executive Council, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, and other political appointees, their appointments ended on May 29th, 2011.

    “This brings to a close the former administration, and marks the beginning of the new.

    “The President thanked all the outgoing ministers, advisers and assistants and other political appointees for their service to the nation.

    “He particularly lauded their patriotism and dedication, and wished them God’s blessings in their future endeavours.”
