A politician from Edo state of  Nigerian  has been arrested for attempted drug trafficking and is currently facing interrogation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Fifty-two year old  Eme Zuru Ayortor was arrested at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos by anti drug officials after the politician was discovered with some abnormality in his stomach and he was promptly sent  to pass through the Airport scanner.

About two  kilograms (nearly 4.5 pounds) of cocaine was discovered in his body as  he  attempted to travel out of the country.

Eme Zuru Ayortor on interrogation claimed he delved into drug trade to salvage his financial problems having lost huge amount of money in the last election in 2007.

According to NDLA, the former pharmacist-turned-politician was trying to board a flight to Germany when a scanning machine detected a bulging  abnormality in his stomach and he was arrested.

The Agency claimed they found 100 pieces of individually wrapped packages of cocaine which were stored inside his body.
