Nigerian charged for drug run in Romania


    A 32 year-old Nigerian national has been remanded in custody after  he was charged under arrest for masterminding the importation of more than half a kilo of cocaine through a Romanian drug mule.

    Stephen Ikechukwu Egbo who resides in San Gwann was arrested in a sting led by drug squad police who followed-up investigations after the seizure of 60 capsules full of cocaine that were discovred in a Romanina national’s stomach on arrival to Malta from Dusseldorf last Friday.

    The Romanian reportedly informed the police on who had to receive the drugs and controlled the delivery straight to the Nigerian’s home in San Gwann.

    Egbo has only been in Malta for three months and has no family ties residing here.

    He was refused bail and ordered to be sent to Corradino Prisons under preventative custody.
