The truth about Ikemba Nnewi, Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu ( The Video)

Ikemba Nnewi Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu

Nigerians in the Diaspora are charging home based Ndigbo leaders to come clean over the state of health of former Republic of Biafra leader, Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu by holding a short interview with him on his hospital bed or publishing his recent picture for all to see.

“Through this, there will be no more more peddling  speculations about the Igbo elder statesman’s state of health”, claims a London based Igbo leader who wants to remain anonymous.

Other Nigerians who responded to a short questionnaire said they would love to see the evidence of Ojukwu’s state of health before they would trust the views of many of his friends  who claim Ojukwu has been responding to treatment as against recent reports that he had been abandoned and he is just awaiting his last breath, with his state of health diminishing.

According to the leader who leads a top Igbo Cultural society in London, there are striking similarities between events of Ojukwu’s state of health and that of former Nigerian leader, Umaru Musa Yar’adua whose condition was manipulated by some of his close associates when he was ill while he was the nation’s leader. A cabal  used his condition  for personal benefits with Nigerians being  drifted through a long lane of lies for more than six months.

The  cabal within the ruling People’s Democratic Party  had exploited his situation after he was  transferred to a foreign private hospital in Saudi Arabia, engaging in illegal activities which included award of contracts and carrying out backdoor policies to their benefits at the expense of the entire nation.

The entire nation was stuck in stagnancy as she found herself being navigated through a long road of lies, deceit  and political prankplay while the cabal  held the nation to ransom.

In an similar scenario, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state and some Igbo leaders have hijacked the management of Ojukwu’s state of health even as one of his sons spoke against such  manipulation prior to the last election in Nigeria.

Media reports last week claimed the former Biafra leader is almost immovable as he  was being visited by a reporter from an online newspaper.

Bubbling Ikemba, making a point

Apart from the appalling condition of permanently remaining incommunicado, the Ikemba was stiff and could not even respond to words from the journalist.

“I tracked the Ikemba down at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (NHS) after a trip that started from The London Clinic to The Wellington Clinic, and Lynden Hill Home Care all at various locations in the United Kingdom.

“For the sake of decency I have decided to only show just a side of Chief Ojukwu’s bed, as it would be against all forms of decency to show his face. For the sake of posterity, however, I call on all Nigerians to mount pressure on Gov Obi and all those involved in the scam to milk Ojukwu for political gain”, Mr Ogundamisi fumed .

Ojukwu is on admission at the Ememer Green ward of the hospital and the only person keeping him company is Bob Enyeama who described himself as chief of staff to the former Biafran warlord.

He  is still  bedridden and  appeared to be waiting for his last breath when his support machine would be switched off. He is reportedly currently stiff with his  eyes constantly staring at the ceiling.

According to a member of staff of the hospital, the authority is currently waiting for the family members of the Biafran warlord to decide if the life support he is on should be switched off.

In an apparent management of the real truth and to allay public fears about his health,  Chief of Staff to the ailing  Igbo warlord, Mr. Bob Onyeama,  denied reports that the health of the Ikemba Nnewi, was deteriorating. He added that he has been improving tremendously.

“There is no truth in the internet reports that the health of the ailing Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who is in a London hospital, has deteriorated, ”he said

Onyeama said Ojukwu, who suffered strokelast year  is getting better. He also said he and Ojukwu’s wife, Bianca, were with him and that nobody else had seen Ikemba to warrant any speculation about his present condition.

Also, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Peter Obi on Media, Mr. Val Obienyem, urged people not to worry about the internet reports, adding that the state government was monitoring Ikemba’s recovery and assured that he would soon return to Nigeria fully recovered.

Apparently having been verbally flogged over porosity that allowed for the report and the eventual revelations, the Royal Berkshire Hospital where Ojukwu is remaining unconscious has come to the aid of the Igbo cabal, managing his health condition.  The hospital authority claimed he is in stable condition.

The hospital’s Public Relations Manager, Joe Wise (who gave his phone numbers as 01183226900 )on behalf of Ojukwu’s family issued a statement: “We have been requested by the family of Dim Odumegwu-Ojukwu to clarify media reports regarding his stay as a patient at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

“The Royal Berkshire Hospital is one of the largest acute hospitals and is nationally and internationally renowned for its high standards of care, using the very latest treatments and clinical equipment available.

” Odumegwu-Ojukwu was admitted as an emergency patient from the Lynden Hill Clinic. He was suffering from a chest infection for which he received treatment. His condition is stable.

“Contrary to reports published in a number of newspapers: He has not suffered any further strokes; he is not on a life support machine and has not been on one at any time while a patient in the Royal Berkshire Hospital; his treatment is being funded privately.

“Any further media enquiries should be directed to the Public Relations Department, but further statements will only be issued at the request of Ojukwu’s family.”

Contacted on the development, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Peter Obi on Media and Publicity, Valentine Obienyem, said Obi has directed his aides not to make any comments on Ezeigbos sickness. Obi urged the public to pray for him.

However, the emanating reactions from both Igbo leaders and the hospital have remained unconvincing.

” All we want is the truth and those that are in charge have been much economical with the truth. If Ikemba Nnewi is improving, let us see the evidence through a short interview; even if he cannot speak, let him show his face and smile to all  that he is improving”, the London base Igbo leader, who wants to remain anonymous requested.

The Federal government has been very slow in digging out all matters relating to the events before, during an after the death of former president Umaru Yar’adua, a situation that may create ambiguity in the nation’s history in future, especially for posterity.

The nation was held stiff for over six months as Yar’Adua political aides made a mess of the nation, weaving lies to the consternation of the entire nation and international community.

President Goodluck Jonathan’s owe the entire world the duty of telling the truth even as a victim who was then held only on the periphery of power, humiliated, and deprived his vice presidential roles as he was dumped aside.

“Each time, Yar’Adua was away, only a team of former  leaders was given the  responsibity of steering the nation’s affairs as Jonathan was made irrelevant then” confided a top former government official, adding unless there are causes for a comprehensive investigation to the then events by the present government.

With Ikemba falling prey to the same management as Yar’adua,, there had been questions as to whether some igbo leaders are milking his situation through the Federal government’s financial support which may form the core of the current lies about the true state of Ojukwu’s health as they may not want such financial support ceasing so quickly
