Otunba Kenny Aluko, the Chairman of one of the factions of Peoples Democratic Party, South West in UK and Ireland currently facing allegation of impersonation has reacted to a report in emn-news.com, which claimed that he had been taken to court over his intention and continued determination to parade himself as the Chairman of PDP(South-West Caucus).
Reacting, Otunba Aluko denied ever receiving any litigation message from either Hon Akin Akinoso, his representatives or legal agents.
Asked to react to the Court summons, Otunba Aluko reacted: “I am still in Nigeria. I can’t react until I get court summons to appear. I hope you and them know that the summon is not effective if it fails to reach the defendant.
He said he would wait to receive the summon.
In a statement of claims filed at an Oshogbo High Court, Hon Akim Akinoso had claimed that an election was conducted on January 19, 2013 in the United Kingdom with all members of the political party who are stake holders in the election converging to make the choice of their leadership through casting of votes. He said that the electoral committee appointed for the election declared the result of the election and he was pronounced the winner by a majority vote.
He said he was flaggerbasted when he saw the publication of a Nigerian social and entertainment newspaper where Otunba Aluko portrayed himself as a Chairman of People’s Democratic Party, United Kingdom South West Caucus. The summons added that the claim was contrary to the connotation of the events of the election and expectation of the plaintiff, Hon Akim Olajide Akinoso.
In the writ of summons endorsements which it said can be served the defendant within 12 calender months, it is contained that the plaintiff is the bona-fide Chairman of PDP United Kingdom South-West Caucus.
He further urges that any purported person claiming to be Chairman of PDP UK South-West Caucus is wrongful, unlawful and should be declared null and void and that such has not been legally elected by the party as claimed.
The plaintiff however is seeking Fifty Million(N50,000,000Million) damages for the impersonation committed by the defendant parading himself as the Chairman of PDP, United Kingdom and Ireland South West Caucus.
The summons however is seeking for a perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from committing acts of impersonation as the Chairman of PDP, UK South West Caucus, which the plaintiff said is his exclusive right.
