Presidential Election 2011: whipped up religious sentiment endangers peaceful election:

Muhammadu Buhari, CPC Presidential Candidate... exorcised of decay by Pastor Bakare?

The coming Presidential election in Nigeria could be  putting  the nation on the red alert following religious sentiments being whipped up by some notable political leaders.

It has been revealed that political campaigners for the forth-coming presidential elections are towing both tribal and religious routes to achieve their  goal of influencing the action of voters, thereby employing both tribal and religion links.

In a recent report, Vice President Arc Namadi Sambo  attributed the poor performance recorded by the People’s Democratic Party in Kaduna State during last Saturday’s National Assembly elections to a religious conspiracy by some northerners against the presidential ambitions of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The vice president who spoke through his senior special assistant on media, Umar Sani, affirmed that the defeat was not targeted at him but at the PDP.

He said that those who voted against the PDP in the state were mostly Muslims who saw the coming presidential election as a religious and tribal  contest between Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian, and Muhammadu Buhari who is a Muslim.

According to him, “Some people have been going around the North warning that any Muslim that votes for PDP or any other party outside CPC (Congress for Progressive Change) is not a genuine Muslim and will be punished for that.

“They have already made up their minds to vote for CPC because of Buhari without minding the calibre of candidates they voted on Saturday”, the Vice President spokesman said.

The move however has been described as a desperate move which may work against CPC both in the Southern and Northern parts of the country as the entire nation may view the presidential election as a tribal and religious matter rather than considerations for the quality and vibrancy of the candidates contesting.

A respondents claimed on Wednesday: “ The move has exposed Congress for Progressive Change as an hypocritical party who wants to ride on the back of  Pastor Bakare to achieve its end “.

The respondent querried the rationale behind the CPC making Pastor Tunde Bakare its Vice Presidential candidates knowing fully well that he was not wanted as a staunch Christian concluding that the pastor might have been fooled in the CPC  political agreement with the leaders of the party knowing fully that Bakare is being used to achieve  election victory, especially soliciting for votes from both north and south Christians.

CPC: May rewrite more history in future

The source said: ” Now the handwriting is on the wall to prove to the world that Buhari and his party are hypocrites who cavorted Bakare only for the purpose of  vote winning” adding that if President Goodluck Jonathan is being blackmailed on religious ground, what moral justification has CPC got to pick  Bakare as presidential running mate”

Our source further  summed up that Buhari knew what he was doing knowing fully that Bakare would be doomed after the election, especially if CPC won”

“The intention for picking on Bakare is undoubtedly to use the pastor for Buhari’s desperate purpose”, a political analyst   further concluded”, adding there is likehood that the pastor would only be dumped on flimsy excuses or be made administratively redundant as had been seen in the past.

Our source made references to President Goodluck Jonathan while serving under the Yar’ Adua regime only as a figure head completely sidelined, and know nothing about the state of the nation’s affairs as the former leader travelled for medical treatment.

” The president was bitterly complaining as the nation’s affairs were handed over to four ex leader to run while Jonathan was made redundant and ineffective.

In a national message in 2006, Pastor Bakare spoke to the nation about Buhari ‘s stake in today’s Nigeria

Pastor Bakare: "Buhari is part of nation's decay"

Neither Buhari nor IBB nor Obasanjo nor Atiku will be part of the new Nigeria. They are part of the old that has decayed and is still decaying. The new is coming forth. It is the counsel of the Lord that shall stand in this nation. Until the sons of turmoil destroy themselves, this nation will not know peace”, claims Pastor Bakare, who was addressing a large congregation of Worshippers in his Church.

“This is really shocking; an indication that Buhari knew what he was doing by using Bakare as a stepping stone in to the presidency”, our respondent  added.

Continued Pastor  Bakare: “The same people who balanced the equation that if Abacha is dead, M. K. O. Abiola must follow suit are still around. Whoever tells you M. K. O. died a natural death has lied.

They contrived his cold murder.
When Abacha died, Abiola was still in prison and IBB for the first time since he left power for his fortress in Minna came to Abeokuta to see the current president. He came to greet him and came to offer him the package of the elders of the north and at the same time, to present it (offer to be president in 1999) to the then General Obasanjo.

Bakare said, “Let me tell you the truth by the spirit of God, neither (President Olusegun Obasanjo), OBJ, Atiku (Abubakar), IBB and this tall one, (Muhammadu) Buhari are part of the new. They are part of the old that is decaying. That old one is passing away. The new is emerging and these ones are not part of that new.”

The so called divine revelation however has been contradicted  Pastor Bakare’s acceptance as Buhari’s  running mate under CPC.

Buhari/ Bakare: Ride on my back. Heading for a pin-fall?

Many who emailed EMNnews after reading Bakare’s address have pegged their reservation, holding the view now that all may not be well with his romance and cavorting of Buhari and CPC.

With the presidential election coming up on Saturday, may be  Pastor  Bakare knows what many Nigerians do not know, or maybe the pastor is helping to rewrite Buharis destiny, having exorcised from him his past decay, may be.

  1. I do hope that others would be able to understand and uphold the principles and objectives entrenched in the equal representation clause of the 12th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, on the subject of federal character. Case study Barack Obama vs Joe Bide. Goodluck Jonathan vs. Namadi Sambo: the 12th Amendment states: “The electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves;…”

If you can, deduce any incompatibility, in principles and objectives entrenched entrenched Article I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII, of the Constitution of the United States of America; Chapter I, Chapter II, Chapter V, Chapter VI, and Chapter VII, of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended by an act of 2010; Title One, Title Two, 3rd Title, Title 4, Title 5, and Title 6, of the Federal Constitution of the Swiss Confederation; Article 1 through Article 92, of the Constitution Act of 1867; and Article 25, 26, 27, of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, on the aforementioned matter. Considering the power of spirit in a follower suffering and frustrated; increases or decreases proportionally to practical or impractical steps taken by leaders, to alleviate the suffering and frustration of follower; characterized by similitude of aforementioned follower hereinafter. It is evident that, and predicable on grounds of conduct of the elections reflecting integrity, transparency, accountability, amongst others, and principles and objectives entrenched in the rule of law/Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended 2010; and the Electoral Act 2006, as amended 2010; would determine the outcome of the Presidential elections reflecting gains and looses of adherence and disregard, effectiveness and ineffectiveness of provisions of article 5, paragraph i, iv, viii, and xxv of the Constitution of the Action Congress Party of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; article 7 paragraph 2, (c) Constitution of the People Democratic Party of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; and article 4, paragraph 1, of the Constitution of the Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC), political party, a derivatives of principles and objectives entrenched entrenched sections 223 subsection b, section 224, sections 13, section 14 subsection 3, and section 15 subsection 4, of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, a derivatives of principles and objectives entrenched entrenched article 25, 26, 27, of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and applicable sections of constitutions of all nations in accordance with international law, and human rights. Do you think that adopting rotational zoning of political office holders amongst ethnic, groups in a multi-ethnic society. Could compromise competency, integrity, of leadership to achieving good governance. And by not adopting rotational zoning of political office holders, thus leads to political sectarianism, and instability, disunity, chaos and the undermining of rule of law. Also, in accordance with aims of fostering rule of law, human rights, accountability, and transparency, which are catalyst for good governance for national unity, peace, and progress. What is the way forward, to prevent division, along ethnic, religious, social, economic, and political, lines. And to thwart mischiefs of mischief-makers, and hypocrites; of rule of law, human rights, accountability, and transparency, which are catalyst for good governance for national unity, peace, and progress?

Do you agree, that statements like: “We have jettison zoning” “repeal zoning”/ “repeal federal character” “proponents (I.e. electorates and aspirants, of zoning/federal character; are incompetent, to contest and be elected, in a free and fair election”. Are grossly offensive, counter-productive, selfish, and unethical tactic, against successful persuasion, of aggrieved; sincere, and vocal plaintiffs (I.e.Northerners,) who are proponents of upholding the unambiguous, logical, ethical, and justice principles, and vision, in equal chances to lead, for unity, peace, tranquillity, and advancement, as enshrined in the logic of zoning/federal character, in the constitution. To concede to mutual agreement to wait until the end of tenure of leadership, in the South; to the North?

On what grounds would/should you/we agree or disagree, or debate on the causes and long-term remedies for these challenges. On what would/should you/we agree or disagree, with summarized facts hereinafter?
