The construction of the proposed multi-million Ijesa Youth Development Center, which will be built in Ilesa Town, in the State of Osun, Nigeria will commence this year as a major plans for the launching of the project across the world has been intensified.
The project, aimed at combing out sports talents, especially Olympic hopefuls and Nationalsports heroes will make a major attraction across Nigeria.
The co-ordinator of the project, Mr Sunday Adewusi, who disclosed this said that the launching of the ultra-modern complex, scheduled to kick off in April will be well coordinated and will take place in various part of the World, with the launching tentatively slated for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to Mr Adewusi, all hands are on deck to make the project a huge success. He called on all Ijesa citizens across the world to stretch their hands of support so that Ilesa, the location of the project will make a landmark history as a unique talent hunting center in Nigeria.
It has been designed to be one of Nigeria’s entertainment citadel, incorporating sport halls, conference centers, swimming pool, computer learning center, Football pitch, Theatre Halls, Amusement Centers and vocational Training centers among other features.
The formal unveiling and presentation of the architectural design of the project was held in London last September.
It is the first time the project was made public, and the unveiling was done by the wife of the former Nigeria Vice President, Chief (Mrs) Titi Atiku..
The multi-million project will serve the youths in Ijesa land in particular and the State of Osun in general and may incorporate Hotel lodges and suites, lawn tennis Courts and state of the art swimming pool.
Mr Adewusi claimed that the project is aimed at empowering all youths across the State of Osun and all other neighboring states that want to savor the benefit of a modern entertainment structure noted that the center would abate the problem of unemployment in Ijesaland.
It will occupy a vast acres of land and will match up with any youth recreation center across the nation. It will combine sports facilities with entertainment resources , providing ideal acting venues for Nollywood and other relating entertainment activities. The main auditorium may host international conferences.
Speaking during the unveiling of the project, the Matron of the project, Mrs Atiku said the project marked a major turnaround for Ijesaland in the quest for developmental activities and the center is one of the many ongoing initiatives to address the current unemployment afflicting the youths in Ijesaland. This Youth Centre is also aimed at complimenting government youth projects in Ijesaland and Osun State in general and will go along way to allow the youths to achieve their full potential as thoroughbred Nigerians.
“It will also also serve as a channel of empowerment for the youth in skills acquisition and entrepreneurship training2, she said.
She added that she was convinced that the project would have the potentials to
change the economic and social fortunes of the youth of this generation and future generations in Osun State.
Unveiling the Architectural design of the project, Cheif (Mrs) declared:“I have chosen to be identified with this cause; I have also taken it upon myself to use my network of friends and every power within my purview to ensure this dream of a befitting Youth Centre in Osun State becomes a reality”
She urged all Ijesas in the Diaspora to be part of the project urging that all should contribute to make the project a success.
She commended the Ijesa Young Women Progressive Elite, Lagos for donating two acres of land for the project urging that the project if fast tracked could be opening towards the end of 2014.
She called on Nigerians in The Diasporia, Ijesa Citizens, Friends and fellow Nigerians interested in the development of Ijesaland and Nigeria in general to support the initiative morally, financially, intellectually and prayerfully.
More than four governors from across the country have been signalled as special guests at a launching proposed for April this year in Abuja.
Among those present at the the unveiling were the Chairman of Central Association of Nigerians In the UK , Mr Robert Abimbola Afolayan, who commended the efforts of the coordinator and all his associates, urging that the project when commenced will lift the image of Ilesa town and Osun state.
