Wife of the foremost Nigerian educationist and moral preacher, Tai Solarin, Mrs Sheila Tai Solarin has passed on.
Sheila breathed her last breath this morning at Babcock University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, Ogun State of Nigeria.

She was aged 88 years.

Dr Solarin and Sheila (nee Sheila Mary Tuer) got married in in 1951 and both remained committed until his death in July 26, 1994.
The couple are survived by two children, a daughter, Corin and Tunde a son.

Both Sheila and her husband, Late Dr Tai Solarin, veteran school teacher,unrepentant atheist, human rights crusader and moral preacher lived an eventful life and have made history as the nation’s frontline educationist, moral empowerer, humanitarian enforcer, modern civilization  crusader and disciplinarian who impacted most on the lives of thousands of Nigerians, many of whom today are holding positions  of authorities.

Many more that are graduates of Solarin moral school of life and formal education are  very successful in their respective education career  today. The couple’s enigmatism   remain unequaled in the history of Nigeria’s education system. They  championed good causes and influencing both state and national government on issues of educational development.

During Tai days of unilateral protest against government immorality and misdeeds, Sheila was in support of her husband providing her with food and essential needs at his venue of protest, which lasted for days in many instances.

Her husband, Tai passed away on July 26,1994.
The English-born Mrs. Solarin was a dependable ally of her husband who spent a lifetime fighting as a voice for the downtrodden Nigerian masses.

The popular human activist last public appearance was during a protest over the request for the handing over of Mayflower school Ikenne back to the old family management, an a personal to Ogun State government House staged at the entrance of the school. She directed the appeal to Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun ..

Our source disclosed that Governor Ibikunle Amosun was on his way to meet with and console members of the Solarin family. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, said our source.
