President Goodluck Jonathan has won a big enough share of votes across the country’s 36 states to avoid facing an election run-off if he also wins an overall majority, a Reuters tally showed on Sunday.

Under the terms of the constitution, the winner of a presidential election must take a simple majority as well as 25 percent of the vote in two thirds of the country’s states.

Results from 30 states declared so far showed Jonathan had already won a quarter of the votes in 24 states.

He had just over 20 million of the total votes counted, well ahead of his nearest rival, ex-military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, who was on around 10 million.

Earlier reports
With counting having commenced  across the nation following a successful voting on Saturday in the country, the nation has waited impatiently to hear the results from across the country.

Voting went very well on Saturday with calmness and anxiety ruling the airwaves, except for a little skirmishes especially in Plateau where three people were shot by a security officer.

The nation is anxiously waiting for the result of the election which has been predicted to likely tofavour the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan.

It is the staring of the reality in the face of other contestants who were involved in the Saturday election as the nation skipped all the zero image of the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to vote Jonathan in an extremely overwhelming vote of sympathy, the president having demonstrated genuine passion, patriotism and love  for the nation showing the trait of a true nationalist.

The ratings below as published by Nigeria election Coalition show that President Jonathan Goodluck may soon be declared as victorious. He has demonstrated enormous nationalism and true passion for the nation. The data below from various social network groups is indicative. Just sample it and await the real result trooping in soon.
