The committed religious champion, who is a full time evangelist for long has been marked for the special treat prior to the demise of his jewel, Mama Julianah Fabiyi-Obey, who died late lat year.
His home city in Abeokuta and his base, Lagos are agog with pre-celebration festivities as family members and admirers across the world are converging to make the occasion a grand one.
The two Nigeria musical icons, had remained ever inseparable in Nigeria Entertainment history as they both had remained consistent as celebrities for almost four decades.
It will be recalled that Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, with other gospel artistes across the country were on the band stand at the christian wake-keep and service of songs for the mother of King Sunny Ade in Ondo town, two years ago.
However, it is pay back time as the indomitable Juju superlord, King Sunny Ade will be on bandstand come April 3, 2012 to celebrate one of the godfathers of Juju music and evergreen versatile vocalist, Commander Ebenezer Obey.

We’re told the event, which is being put together by the musician’s committee of friends will feature a range of activities to celebrate the music icon. ‘It’ll be a carnival of sorts. Obey is a great man that deserves every celebration he gets, especially at this special age he as attained’, a source familiar with the birthday preparations tells us.
A biography and TV documentary have already been commissioned to be ready for public presentation during the reception which comes up in Lagos on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
According to a preliminary programme line-up of activities preceding the event, the Idogo Town Hall in Ogun State will be dedicated and handed over to the governor of that state, Ibikunle Amosun on Thursday March 23, 2012 which coincides with the birthday of the singer’s late wife Juliana Olaide Obey-Fabiyi.
A thanksgiving service is to follow on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 along with a reception and public presentation of Obey’s autobiography and TV documentary.
Dignitaries, cutting across the various strata of the economy are also expected to grace the occasion.
