Tragedy- Wife Murders Husband for Having Illicit Baby-An Ibadan based solicitor is currently being detained for allegedly stabbing her husband, killing him in cold blood.

The husband, thirty-eight year old Oyelowo Ayediran Ajanaku was stabbed to death by his wife,  Yewande Oyediran (maiden name Fatoki) early on Tuesday morning as both were having altercation on family matters. He grabbed a knife and stabbed the husband in cold blood just as the husband pleaded for forgiveness. The incident happened early last Tuesday  February 2, 2016 in their family home, Akobo estate, Ibadan. They allegedly had carried over a disagreement from the previous day over a personal matter on how the husband came about having an illicit baby boy.

Yewande is described as the daughter of one Honorable Fatoki,and works as a top Lawyer and staff member of Directorate of Public Prosecution at the Ministry of Justice in Ibadan.

The couple had been having personal disagreement following a rumour that Oyelowo had got a child out of their wedlock. They had been married for three years without a child to their marriage.

Following the rumour, the couple was said to have altercation overnightsuddenly heard on Monday night, the 1st of February 2016 that he had altercation as the information got to the lady that her hubby had a son out of their wedlock. On Monday Tuesday morning, an argument had ensued  which resulted in more aggravation as Oyelowo pleaded and pledged his loyalty to her. Finding the news unbearable, she grabbed a knife and stabbed him on the shoulder.

According to a source, the couples landlord who intervened during the argument allegedly temporarily doused the tension and not too long after she was counseled, she opted for the knife and stabbed the husband close to his armpit. Oyelowo was rushed to the hospital and had the cuts on his armpit stitched after which he went back home to sleep so he can gain some energy.

However, Yewande was still fuming and as she could not control her anger, went back to lock the door on him and attack him as he was gaining strength after his earlier treatment and stitching. She locked the doors on him as he  pleaded for help. He was then slaughtered.

Yewande after a a while called on the Landlady to report her crime and on approaching their flat, the landlady discovered Oyelowo’s body in a pool of blood. He was dead.

Yewande  is currently being detained at the state CID Iyaganku, in Ibadan, Oyo State and appeared before an Ibadan Magistrate Court charged for murder.

However, there was commotion at the court premises on Friday as  family members of the couple appeared in Court and engaging in war of words over the incident, and chanting derogatory chants abusively at one another.

Mr. Kehinde Durosaro–Tijani, presiding as the Chief Magistrate handling the case adjourned hearing in the case to February 16 after ordering that the accused be remanded in Agodi Prison till the hearing.

Prosecuting, Inspector Amos Adewale  told the court: “Yewande on February 2, 2016, at about 06:10am at No 30 Abidi Odan Akobo area, Ibadan in the Ibadan Magisterial District did unlawfully cause the death of one Oyelowo Oyediran, 38, by stabbing him with knife on the neck, which later resulted to his death.’’

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecuting officer further told the court that the accused had committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Volume II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria.

Another drama occurred when some Prison officials threatened to attack journalists and photographers who had positioned themselves near a Black Maria which was to convey Yewande to Agodi Prison.

She was later conveyed out of the court premises in a blue Primera Nissan car purportedly owned by a lawyer, while other accused persons were taken to Agodi Prisons in a Black Maria.
